Atallis Firmware update

Altair

Update your device

Connect the Altair to this computer with a USB cable and install the firmware straight from this page. Nothing to download or install first.

This browser can’t talk to USB devices. Please open this page in Chrome or Edge on a computer. This page must be served over HTTPS to access the USB port.

How to do it

  1. Plug the Altair into this computer with a USB cable. It must be a data cable — some charging cables have no data wires and the device will not appear.
  2. Press Connect & install above.
  3. Your browser will ask which device to use. Pick the serial port that appears (typically usbserial, wchusbserial or SLAB) and choose Connect.
  4. Choose Install and leave it alone for about two minutes. Do not unplug the cable while it is writing.

What an update keeps

Updating does not reset your device. Your Wi-Fi network, paired headphones, favourites and Start choice are all kept — an update replaces the software only, and never touches your settings. There is nothing to set up again afterwards.

Setting up a brand-new device

A device that has never been set up starts with no Wi-Fi network saved, so the first thing it shows is Wi-Fi setup. On your phone, join the network it names on screen, and your phone should open the setup page by itself. Pick your home network, enter its password, and the device restarts and joins it.

Wi-Fi details are stored on the device only. They are never part of the firmware, so the file this page installs is the same for everybody — which is also why an update cannot overwrite them.
